On June 3 at the Salvation Army Kroc Center in Philadelphia, Össur put on its third mobility clinic this year. Fifty-six amputees attended with their families in order to improve their mobility and meet other amputees. These free clinics are intended to help amputees achieve their running and mobility goals–whether that’s learning to walk again or fine-tuning their sprinting skills. Össur clinicians were also available to answer questions about our products and services.

Össur presented two Össur Cheetah Xplore Junior running feet to seven-year-old Chase Merriweather. At age 3, Chase suffered a deadly flu virus and the medications used to save his life stopped the blood flow to his extremities, ultimately leading to the amputation of his feet and hands. With his new Össur running feet, Chase will be able to keep up with his big brother CJ and participate in football, baseball and soccer.

Sarah Reinertson, Paralympian, Team Össur, Team CAF and Nike sponsored athlete, also attended the event. She holds World Records in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 5k and marathon races. She is the first female transfemoral amputee to complete the Ironman World Championship triathlon in Kona, Hawaii.

In addition to 51 local volunteers, Össur employees from the nearby distribution center attended with their families to support the event.

Össur has partnered with CAF for more than 20 years. Since 1971, the Icelandic company has been dedicated to developing technologies that help people enjoy ‘Life Without Limitations.’ Each year, hundreds of people with limb loss participate in Össur Running and Mobility Clinics presented by CAF across the U.S.

Össur has 4 more clinics scheduled for 2017. Check out the schedule and registration links here!
